Xiaomi Auto Unveils Pengcheng Range Extender Details and Vehicle Specs

Xiaomi Auto Vice President Li Xiaoshuang disclosed details on the development of Xiaomi's Pengcheng series range extenders. The series features a new "M15DRE" range extender, for which all seven core components have been completely reselected and specially developed—accounting for nearly 50% of the total unit cost. Among the over 200 components in the entire system, 57 have undergone significant optimization. Under WLTC driving conditions, the range extender achieves a minimum fuel consumption of 5.7 L/100 km in low-state-of-charge scenarios, with a maintenance interval set at every three years or after the range extender has operated for 30,000 kilometers following the initial service. The Xiaomi Pengcheng N90 and N70 are the brand’s first range-extended electric vehicle (REEV) models. According to filings with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), four listed variants—the N90 Max Camping Edition, N70, N70 Max, and N90 Max—are all plug-in hybrid REEVs equipped with the M15DRE engine produced by Harbin Dongan Automotive Engine Co., Ltd. This engine has a displacement of 1,499 ml and delivers a maximum net power output of 112 kW, enabling a top speed of 190 km/h. All variants offer a maximum CLTC-rated all-electric range of up to 505 km and are powered by batteries with a maximum capacity of 76 kWh. Specifically, the N90 Max Camping Edition measures 5,285 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width, and 1,925 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,080 mm and a curb weight of 2,840 kg. It uses CATL ternary lithium-ion batteries and features dual electric motors with peak outputs of 210 kW and 100 kW, respectively. Both the N70 and N70 Max share identical dimensions of 4,960 mm × 1,998 mm and a wheelbase of 2,950 mm, seating five passengers. The N70 is equipped with Sunwoda lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries and a single motor delivering a peak output of 210 kW, while the N70 Max uses CATL ternary lithium-ion batteries and dual motors with peak outputs of 210 kW and 100 kW. The standard N90 Max (non-Camping Edition) stands 1,825 mm tall and is offered in both five-seat and seven-seat configurations. It also features CATL ternary lithium-ion batteries and the same dual-motor setup with peak outputs of 210 kW and 100 kW.
