On July 23, Yang Mu, Director-General of the Department of Market Operations and Consumption Promotion at the Ministry of Commerce, stated at a press conference that the government will introduce policy measures to expand the scale and upgrade the structure of goods consumption, better meeting the diverse and multi-tiered consumption needs of the people. The relevant initiatives will focus on four categories of goods: First, boosting consumption of major durable goods, including promoting automobile consumption across the entire supply chain, deepening pilot reforms in auto distribution and consumption, and expanding bundled and customized home services. Second, steadily enhancing consumption of daily necessities by improving the quality of products such as food and beverages, textiles, and apparel. Third, supporting consumption of specialty goods, with a focus on the elderly and children—encouraging spending on products for seniors and infants—and promoting domestic "trendy" brands, high-quality export-oriented goods, and premium international products. Fourth, fostering and expanding consumption of upgraded-category goods by aligning with evolving consumption trends and driving demand for green, smart, and health-oriented products.
