The Dongfeng Yipai M8 new energy SUV was launched on July 23, offering both all-electric and extended-range powertrain variants. It has an official starting price of RMB 179,800, with a limited-time promotional price starting from RMB 165,800. The vehicle is among the first models equipped with Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 5 Pro intelligent driving system, featuring 27 smart perception sensors that deliver a full 360-degree blind-spot-free surround view. It supports end-to-end NCA (Navigate on Cruise Assist) across highways, urban roads, and campuses, as well as intelligent parking in all scenarios, with a trace-back reversing capability of up to 120 meters. Its cabin-integrated Limera laser-vision system can detect irregular obstacles up to 115 meters away. Measuring 5,020 mm long, 1,975 mm wide, and 1,733 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 3,025 mm, the M8 is available in five exterior colors: Smoky Violet, Far-Dark Blue, Frost White, Moonlight Silver, and Xuanyou Black. Interior color options include Apricot White, Dawn Orange, and Inkstone Brown. The cabin features a three-row, six-seat layout, equipped with class-exclusive dual first-class seats, a 50-inch AR-HUD, dual panoramic displays, and a bidirectional smart climate-controlled console box capable of cooling to -6°C or heating up to 50°C. The cockpit runs HarmonySpace 5.2 based on Huawei’s HarmonyOS, featuring a 16.1-inch 3K Huawei Smart Display. Built upon the MoLA hybrid large-model Agent architecture, it supports five intelligent functions: voice navigation, voice-controlled vehicle operations, in-car Q&A, news/encyclopedia access, and media playback. The audio system is HUAWEI SOUND, comprising a 7.1.4-channel setup with 21 speakers, DDS turbine subwoofers, and a Tuning Cube for acoustic optimization. The entire vehicle integrates Huawei’s Qiankun Cloud, Qiankun Vehicle Control, and WhaleFin communication technologies. In terms of performance, the all-electric version is built on an 800V silicon carbide high-voltage platform, delivering a peak charging current of 480A—enabling a 30% to 80% charge in just 15.5 minutes—and offers a CLTC range of 600 km. The extended-range variant supports 4C ultra-fast charging, achieving the same state-of-charge increase in only 14.3 minutes, with a CLTC all-electric range of 300 km and a total combined range of 1,281 km. Both variants are powered by the Yipai Golden Shield battery co-developed by Dongfeng Yipai and CATL.
