Canadian Company Launches UPT: Modular EV Van with 18 Configurations, DIY Customization & Multi-Use Capabilities

On July 24, 2024, a Canadian electric mobility company unveiled the UPT—a versatile personal electric vehicle. Built on a patented universal modular chassis, the UPT features a tool-free, quick-swap architecture that allows it to transform seamlessly among 18 different vehicle configurations, including all-terrain off-road vehicles, golf carts, cargo flatbeds, campus shuttles, outdoor wheelchairs, and snow-plowing utility vehicles. The UPT chassis incorporates standardized T-slot mounting points, enabling users to freely interchange components such as steering columns, seats, cargo beds, tires, snowplow blades, and passenger cabins. Customers can either purchase official pre-assembled kits or customize and assemble their own configurations. The vehicle supports smartphone connectivity and full over-the-air (OTA) remote updates, with an optional solar-assisted charging system. Its chassis also includes预留 hardware interfaces for autonomous driving, offering potential future conversion into an autonomous delivery vehicle. Powered by four independent in-wheel motors, the UPT delivers a combined peak power output of 12,000 W and total torque of 640 N·m, with a top speed of 50 km/h. Its modular, quick-swap battery pack provides a range of 100 to 200 kilometers, supports a maximum payload of 250 kg, and offers a towing capacity of 350 kg. With an IP67 ingress protection rating and dual-wishbone long-travel suspension, the UPT features four-wheel drive, tank-turn capability (pivoting in place), and crawl mode—making it well-suited for challenging terrains such as mud, snow, and gravel. Priced between $8,000 and $12,000 in its pre-sale phase, the UPT is scheduled to enter mass production and begin customer deliveries in fall 2026.
