Chinese NEV brand Avatr has announced the official launch of its midsize SUV, the Avatr 07 REEV, in the Egyptian market. Three variants are available, priced between EGP 2.29 million and EGP 2.79 million (approximately RMB 302,700 to RMB 368,800). As Avatr’s first range-extended electric vehicle (REEV) introduced in Egypt, the Avatr 07 is designed to address local driving conditions where charging infrastructure remains underdeveloped. Avatr entered the Egyptian market in July 2023 through a partnership with the Kasrawy Group and launched its all-electric Avatr 11 and Avatr 12 models in November of the same year. With the addition of the Avatr 07, Avatr’s product lineup in Egypt now spans midsize SUVs, mid-to-large SUVs, and mid-to-large sedans. The Avatr 07 measures 4,895 mm long, 1,970 mm wide, and 1,601 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,920 mm, and features a five-seat configuration. Standard equipment includes a panoramic sunroof, multi-zone automatic climate control, and heated and ventilated seats—features tailored to Egypt’s hot climate. Powering the vehicle is a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder range extender, offered in both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations. It is equipped with a CATL 39.05 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, delivering a CLTC-rated all-electric range of 180 km and a combined gasoline-electric range exceeding 1,100 km. The vehicle’s battery and electronic control systems have undergone specialized thermal management tuning for North Africa’s high-temperature environment. The introduction of the Avatr 07 fills a gap in Egypt’s market for range-extended new energy vehicles. Previously, the country’s premium NEV segment was dominated by German-brand pure-electric and hybrid models. With its relatively long all-electric range and advanced intelligent features, the Avatr 07 directly competes against hybrid variants of the BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC.
