Ford Motor Company announced on July 24 a strategic partnership with Apple Inc. focused on in-vehicle software. Under the agreement, Ford’s next generation of affordable all-electric vehicles will natively integrate Apple Maps’ full suite of services, replacing Google’s in-car navigation system. The collaboration includes deep integration at the vehicle’s electronic control level, enabling users to access these features without needing to connect an iPhone—Android users will also enjoy full functionality. Vehicles equipped with Apple Maps will support intelligent features such as real-time traffic updates, EV-specific route planning based on remaining range, battery pre-conditioning, and automatic garage door opening upon arrival home. Additionally, LatitudeAI, Ford’s autonomous driving subsidiary, will leverage Apple Maps’ high-definition road data to develop a hands-free driver-assistance system capable of navigating highway on-ramps and off-ramps without driver intervention. The first electric pickup truck featuring this system will be priced at $30,000 and is scheduled for market launch and customer deliveries in 2027.
