The Department of Equipment Industry I under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) recently conducted on-site inspections at GAC Aion New Energy Automobile Co., Ltd. and XPeng Motors Manufacturing Co., Ltd. in Zhaoqing, focusing on manufacturers' capabilities in product safety assurance and production consistency for road motor vehicles. The inspections specifically assessed whether companies maintained required conditions for production access, including their capabilities in ensuring the safety of intelligent connected vehicles, design and development, manufacturing capacity, and production consistency. During the inspections, sample vehicles and power batteries were randomly selected on-site and sent to relevant testing institutions for compliance verification against national standards. Previously, on July 17, the Department of Equipment Industry I convened a symposium with key automobile manufacturers to outline measures aimed at standardizing industrial competition, enhancing product consistency and quality-safety standards, and carrying out safety risk assessments and supervisory inspections. Companies were urged to resist irrational competition, strengthen product testing and validation, and conduct rigorous safety evaluations—particularly for combined driving assistance and autonomous driving functions. Moving forward, MIIT will continue conducting supervision and inspections of automotive and motorcycle manufacturers and their products, taking lawful actions against non-compliant enterprises to uphold the safety baseline for automotive products and safeguard consumers’ legitimate rights and interests.
