Recent spy photos have revealed the new Mercedes-Benz GLA, which is built on the Mercedes Modular Architecture (MMA). The vehicle will be offered in both all-electric and 48V mild-hybrid variants. The all-electric GLA EQ is expected to launch by the end of 2026, followed by the 48V mild-hybrid version in early 2027. Exterior design features more athletic body lines, a coupe-like roofline, and slender D-pillars. The front fascia is rumored to adopt a full-width lighting signature inspired by the CLA Concept. Inside, the cabin is dominated by a panoramic MBUX Superscreen spanning the dashboard, integrating features such as streaming media, eye-tracking, and an AI-powered assistant to emphasize a digital-first experience. Thanks to the MMA platform, the GLA can accommodate multiple powertrain configurations—including internal combustion, 48V mild-hybrid, and fully electric systems. The all-electric GLA EQ boasts a maximum range of up to 720 kilometers (CLTC), supported by an 800V high-voltage fast-charging architecture that enables a 10% to 80% charge in just 15 minutes. It also supports bidirectional charging capabilities—vehicle-to-load (V2L), vehicle-to-grid (V2G), and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V)—and utilizes cold-resistant battery cells. Meanwhile, the 48V mild-hybrid variant focuses on balancing fuel efficiency with everyday practicality. Prototype vehicles are currently undergoing rigorous testing in extreme environments—including freezing cold, scorching heat, and dusty conditions—to validate overall reliability. Rumors suggest the all-electric version may use either CATL’s Shenxing battery or BYD’s Blade Battery.
