Audi's Smallest EV, A2 E-tron, Spotted Testing Ahead of Fall Launch

Audi is currently testing its new entry-level all-electric model, the A2 E-tron, which will become the smallest vehicle in the brand’s current lineup. Slated to launch after the A1 and Q2 are discontinued next year, the A2 E-tron will fill their segment gap, serving as the electric counterpart to the A3 hatchback and Q2 crossover, with a positioning that sits between a hatchback and a crossover. In terms of design, the A2 E-tron features proportions reminiscent of a scaled-down Q4 E-tron, while incorporating the rounded styling cues of the original A2 produced from 1999 to 2005. Since it doesn’t directly replace a single existing model, Audi may adopt an entirely new naming strategy. The vehicle is expected to share a platform and form a sister model relationship with the upcoming Elroq. Based on the Elroq’s specifications, it will likely offer battery options ranging from 58 kWh to 79 kWh, delivering up to 360 miles of range, with the vRS variant producing a maximum output of 335 horsepower. The Audi A2 E-tron is expected to make its official debut this autumn, with a price tag anticipated to exceed that of the similarly positioned Volkswagen ID.3 Neo. In Germany, the ID.3 Neo starts at €33,995, with top-trim versions exceeding €50,000.
