On July 24, GAC Toyota announced at the bZ7 User Conference a new policy titled “Full Manufacturer Liability for Battery Fire Incidents.” Under this policy, GAC Toyota will assume full compensation responsibility for battery fires not caused by external ignition sources—including incidents resulting from quality issues, underbody scrapes, or collision damage from traffic accidents. The bZ7 comes with a lifetime warranty on its entire electric powertrain system (battery, motor, and electronics). The battery is engineered for a design life exceeding 20 years and has undergone enhanced durability validation during the design phase. Even if the vehicle is over eight years old, GAC Toyota will still replace all battery cells free of charge in the event of a failure. This comprehensive coverage applies to both existing and new owners of the bZ7 and bZ3X models, extending manufacturer liability for battery fire incidents beyond quality-related causes to include external accident scenarios, with lifetime warranty protection spanning the battery’s entire lifecycle. Additionally, GAC Toyota unveiled an OTA (Over-the-Air) upgrade roadmap for the bZ7, which will introduce features such as Sentry Mode, Escort Mode, and Three-Point Turn functionality to enhance the vehicle’s intelligent user experience. The bZ7’s battery incorporates 19 Toyota safety-critical components from the design stage, meeting China’s latest national standards and featuring a redundant structural design—comprising three layers on the bottom, three on the sides, and four internal layers—to maximize safety. In terms of hardware, the bZ7’s chassis utilizes lightweight aluminum alloys and high-spec hydraulic bushings. Its exterior features original styling and components sourced from premium suppliers. In the first half of this year, cumulative sales of the bZ series exceeded 50,000 units, ranking it No. 1 among joint-venture pure electric vehicles for four consecutive months. GAC Toyota’s total brand sales remain firmly within the industry’s top five and lead all joint-venture brands.
