The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 Pro 4MATIC+ made its debut as the new official Formula 1 Safety Car during the Hungarian Grand Prix held from July 24 to 26, 2026. It succeeds the AMG GT Black Series, which had been in service since 2022 and completed 51 race deployments. The new Safety Car features significant updates to its lighting system, abandoning the traditional roof-mounted light bar. Instead, LED warning lights are integrated into a custom active rear wing and flap assembly. Additionally, adjustable-intensity LED strobe lights have been added within the front bumper, headlights, and taillights. Aerodynamically, compared to the road-going GT 63 Pro 4MATIC+ launched in mid-2024, the Safety Car version is equipped with a more pronounced front splitter, additional dive planes, an active rear wing, and optimized underbody airflow panels to enhance aerodynamic performance. Visually, the car wears a commemorative livery featuring deep black paint, red graphic decals, CrowdStrike branding, and anniversary badges positioned on the hood, roof, and rear wing. Powering the vehicle is the same twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine, producing a maximum output of 604 horsepower (450 kW / 612 PS) and peak torque of 850 Nm. It is paired with the AMG Speedshift MCT 9-speed transmission and the variable all-wheel-drive system 4MATIC+, making it the first four-wheel-drive F1 Safety Car in FIA’s history.
