AITO M9 Reveals Impressive Wading Capability: 82cm Emergency Depth with Advanced Waterproof Safety Tech

On July 25, AITO released the seventh installment of its Q&A series addressing user inquiries about the Aito M9, with a primary focus on safety during water fording in rainy conditions. The all-new Aito M9 achieves a maximum wading depth of 82 cm across all trims—significantly higher than the typical safe wading depth of 40–50 cm found in most urban SUVs. This enhanced capability stems from a comprehensive underbody protection design, featuring a five-layer protective structure beneath the vehicle and an industry-first "seawall" sealing solution, which together double the vehicle’s overall waterproofing performance compared to the previous generation. The battery pack employs dual-seal protection and is equipped with a uniform-temperature liquid cooling system to minimize the risk of short circuits. The vehicle also features multi-position air suspension, allowing adjustable ride height to handle flooded road conditions. When the system detects potential water-fording risks, it displays a warning prompt and recommends activating the “Water-Fording Cruise” mode. Additionally, the cloud-based BMS insulation monitoring system continuously tracks the battery’s insulation status and instantly sends alerts if any signs of water ingress or electrical leakage are detected. AITO emphasized that the 82 cm wading depth rating applies only to slow, steady passage through standing water and does not recommend prolonged submersion or high-speed driving through puddles. After wading, drivers are advised to gently apply the brakes at low speed to remove residual water from the brake pads, ensuring consistent braking performance. The chassis is constructed entirely from aluminum alloy and combines a front double-wishbone and rear five-link suspension setup. Coupled with an 800V active suspension system that rapidly adjusts body posture, this configuration minimizes body roll on flooded roads. All trims come standard with rear-wheel steering, enhancing maneuverability and obstacle-avoidance agility in deep-water conditions.
