Zeekr Enhances Overseas Self-Drive Safety with New "Cross-Border Guardian" Quick Unlock Feature

On July 26, Zeekr issued a statement addressing recent incidents where some owners experienced limitations on certain vehicle infotainment functions during overseas self-driving trips due to the activation of the vehicle's security protection mechanism. Zeekr has resolved the issue for affected users and introduced multiple optimization measures. The security mechanism was originally designed to mitigate risks such as vehicle smuggling or theft and complies with regulations and import/export requirements in various countries. It does not affect core driving functions such as powertrain or braking systems. The charging port cover can be opened manually by pressing it, and the fuel tank cap can be unlocked by holding down the physical hazard light button inside the vehicle for five seconds—no infotainment system operation required. To enhance user experience, Zeekr launched a "Cross-Border Protection" quick-unlock feature on its official app early that morning, allowing owners to obtain a verification code with one click for self-service unlocking. Additionally, Zeekr is developing a "Cross-Border Protection toggle switch." Once delivered via an upcoming OTA update, this feature will be disabled by default, giving owners the option to enable it before traveling abroad. If enabled, the vehicle will display a prompt and restrict certain infotainment functions after crossing borders, though users can still unlock these features via the app. Furthermore, Zeekr has established a priority access channel to its 24/7 customer service hotline (400-003-6036) for users currently abroad or planning to travel overseas, ensuring immediate remote assistance in emergencies.
