On July 24, the Department of Equipment Industry I under China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) conducted on-site inspections of GAC Aion and XPeng Motors to assess their capabilities in product safety assurance and production conformity as road motor vehicle manufacturers. The inspections focused on whether these companies continuously meet the required conditions for production authorization, particularly their capabilities in intelligent connected vehicle safety assurance, design and development, manufacturing, and maintaining production consistency. During the inspections, MIIT officials randomly selected sample vehicles and traction batteries on-site and sent them to designated testing institutions for compliance verification against national standards. Production consistency requires that mass-produced vehicles maintain consistency with the approved prototype models in terms of technical specifications, configurations, and performance indicators. Companies failing to meet these requirements will face penalties.
