Panasonic Automotive has completed validation of its vSkipGen cockpit virtualization platform on Google Cloud's C4A-metal servers. The platform, designed for in-vehicle cockpit system software development, supports both Android Automotive OS and Android SDV, enabling simulation of software behavior on cockpit hardware. With this solution, developers can build, test, and validate cockpit software in the cloud, reducing reliance on physical prototype hardware. Google Cloud’s C4A-metal is an Arm-based Axion bare-metal server offering 96 vCPUs, memory options of either 384 GB or 768 GB, up to 100 Gbps network bandwidth, and support for Hyperdisk storage. This move aligns with the automotive industry trend of shifting software development from physical test benches to the cloud using technologies like digital twins, allowing engineering teams to develop and validate cockpit systems earlier in the vehicle design process.
