Xiaomi Reveals Meaning Behind Pengcheng N90’s “7+7” Layout: Seats 7 Passengers and Fits 7 Suitcases

On July 27, Lei Jun, founder, chairman, and CEO of Xiaomi, released a video addressing questions regarding Xiaomi’s Pengcheng Technology Launch Event. This marks Xiaomi Auto’s second technology launch event, spotlighting the new “Xiaomi Kunlun Technology Architecture,” which comprises three core components: the Xiaomi Kunlun Platform, Xiaomi Kunlun Super Range Extender, and Xiaomi Kunlun All-Terrain Safety system. Based on this architecture, the Xiaomi Pengcheng N90 is positioned as an intelligent, spacious SUV with flexible interior configurations. Measuring 5.28 meters in length and featuring a seven-seat layout, the N90 offers exceptional interior space for its class. According to Lei Jun, even when fully occupied by seven passengers each over 1.85 meters tall, the vehicle can still accommodate seven suitcases—dubbed the “7+7” spatial configuration. Lei also noted that achieving a completely flat floor in a range-extended SUV is highly challenging, as it requires balancing drivability, ground clearance, and the integration of large components such as a big battery pack, a sizable fuel tank, and an all-wheel-drive system. Xiaomi has officially announced that the Pengcheng series will make its debut on July 30 at 7 p.m.
