BYD plans to unveil its self-developed humanoid robot at its "Di Space" in August, marking the first official public display of a physical prototype. On July 28, BYD officially confirmed this schedule, following earlier teaser posters from the WeChat official account "Di Space | Zhengzhou Pavilion" hinting at the upcoming debut. BYD established its embodied intelligence research team in 2022. In May this year, Li Ke, Executive Vice President of BYD, publicly discussed the company's progress on humanoid robots for the first time, stating that BYD aims to deploy these robots in every showroom to handle standardized tasks such as multilingual vehicle introductions, in-car system demonstrations, and interactive customer engagement. However, she emphasized that these robots cannot replace human staff in emotional communication and in-depth sales consultations, and that human service in showrooms will remain. In early June, online rumors circulated that BYD’s self-developed humanoid robot—codenamed "Yao Shun Yu"—is slated for internal deployment of 20,000 units by 2026, with the prototype already in its seventh iteration. In response, BYD clarified that while it does have an in-house humanoid robot project, specific technical parameters and deployment scale differ from the circulating reports.
