China’s EV Charging Infrastructure Reaches 23.057 Million by End of June 2026

As of the end of June 2026, China had a total of 23.057 million electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure units (charging points), representing a 43.2% year-on-year increase. Of these, public charging points totaled 5.009 million, up 22.3% year-on-year, with a combined rated power capacity of 247 million kilowatts and an average power per charging point of approximately 49.35 kilowatts. Private charging points reached 18.048 million, surging 50.4% year-on-year, with an installed electrical capacity of 155 million kVA. In the first half of 2026, China’s EV charging network continued its rapid expansion. During the May Day holiday period, nationwide highway charging sessions reached 3.9784 million, with total electricity consumption amounting to 949.314 million kWh—averaging 189.863 million kWh per day, a 14.09% increase compared to the Spring Festival period and setting a new historical record. By the end of June, over 180,000 high-power charging points had been deployed across the country, accelerating the development of a high-power charging infrastructure system. Meanwhile, county-level coverage of charging facilities rose to 98.61%, and the charging network in county and township areas continued to improve, steadily enhancing charging service capabilities in rural regions.
