Lei Jun Reflects on Xiaomi's Five-Year EV Journey, Hails Pengcheng OS—Backed by 700,000 Users After Three Years of R&D

On July 28, Lei Jun, founder of Xiaomi, published a lengthy post on social media reflecting on Xiaomi's journey into electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing since 2018. In the post, he noted that Xiaomi’s automotive team started from fundamental core technologies and invested substantial resources into EV development, aiming to create vehicles that can rival those of Porsche and Tesla. The company has already launched two models: the Xiaomi SU7 and Xiaomi YU7. Lei added that Xiaomi's Pengcheng system, set to debut at the upcoming second technology launch event, is the result of over three years of intensive R&D by the team and, like the SU7 and YU7, represents a high-quality achievement. To date, Xiaomi Auto has garnered support from more than 700,000 car owners, and after five years of development, the team has matured significantly.
