All-New BMW X5 Launches in 2027 with Gasoline and All-Electric Versions

The all-new generation BMW X5 is scheduled to launch in 2027, offering both combustion-engine and all-electric variants simultaneously in the Chinese market. The new model fully integrates BMW’s NEUE KLASSE technology cluster, spanning multiple dimensions including design, powertrain, intelligent technologies, and luxury experience. The combustion-engine version is powered by an upgraded B58 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine, delivering a maximum output of 294 kW and peak torque of 580 N·m, enabling a 0–100 km/h acceleration time of 5.3 seconds. The all-electric variant, named iX5, features NEUE KLASSE electric drive technology and large cylindrical cells, achieving a CLTC-rated range exceeding 1,000 kilometers—making it the longest-range all-electric all-wheel-drive midsize-to-large SAV currently available. Built on BMW’s next-generation software platform, the new X5 is equipped with an AI-powered human-machine interaction system and the BMW Intelligent Driving Assistant System co-developed with Momenta, supporting comprehensive coverage across all driving scenarios. The all-electric models further feature BMW’s Driving Super Brain and an 800V high-voltage architecture. Exterior design follows BMW’s NEUE KLASSE philosophy, characterized by fewer yet more cohesive design elements that enhance aerodynamic efficiency. Eight exterior paint options are available, including Danube Blue, Cape Town Copper (exclusive to China), and matte Eucalyptus Green. For the first time, the front headlights integrate daytime running lights and low beams into a single unit, offering switchable lighting signatures: “Double Slash” and “Double X.” Inside, the cabin features BMW’s Sensory Intelligence Cockpit, integrating a horizon-level panoramic display, a driver-focused central console, and a passenger entertainment screen. Tailored specifically for the Chinese market, it offers customized AI-driven experiences and a digital entertainment ecosystem. With a wheelbase of 3,165 mm, the rear seats include dual electric leg rests and a floating panoramic rear screen. Natural stone trim makes its debut in a BMW interior, complemented by crystal-effect components and ambient wraparound light strips. In terms of chassis and handling, the new X5 is equipped with an upgraded xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system, a wider track, and rear tires measuring 315 mm in width, significantly enhancing stability, off-road capability, and traction recovery performance.
