In June 2026, China's passenger vehicle market continued its shift toward electrification, with significant changes observed in the sales structure of sedans and SUVs. Among the top ten best-selling sedans, nine were new energy vehicles (NEVs). Geely Galaxy Starship led the segment with sales of 50,906 units, a notable increase from 36,426 units in May. The Tesla Model 3 ranked second with 32,637 units sold. BYD Dolphin and BYD Seagull followed closely in third and fourth places with 25,528 and 25,080 units respectively. Rounding out the top ten were the MG4, Wuling Bingo, Xiaomi SU7, Wuling Hongguang MINI EV, Geely Emgrand, and XPeng M03. In the SUV segment, the BYD Yuan topped the chart with 54,223 units sold, followed by the Tesla Model Y at 47,287 units. The Chery Tiggo 7/7 Plus secured third place with 36,099 units, while the BYD Song Pro, Song Plus, and Geely Binyue series all ranked within the top six. The Leapmotor A10, Chery JAECCOO J5, Fangchengbao T7, and Qichen Q05 also made it into the top ten. The rankings underscore that NEV SUVs have become mainstream, with multiple models catering to diverse sub-segments. Overall, NEVs now dominate both the sedan and SUV markets. Competitive focus is gradually shifting from pricing to product positioning, intelligent user experience, and overall value proposition. Market dynamics continue to evolve, with widening sales gaps among leading models and a multi-tiered, scenario-specific product portfolio emerging as a key competitive differentiator.
