FAW Group recently announced that the ultra-fast-charging battery co-developed by its Hongqi brand and China Automotive New Energy has successfully completed charging performance tests under 25°C ambient conditions. Test results show that the battery can be charged from 10% to 70% state of charge (SOC) in just 3 minutes and 41 seconds, and from 10% to 97% SOC in only 8 minutes and 3 seconds. The battery employs a high-efficiency ultra-fast-charging anode material, enabling a peak charging rate of 12C. It also utilizes a proprietary electrolyte with low desolvation energy to reduce lithium-ion migration resistance. Through composite carbon-source coating and bulk-phase doping modification technologies, the cell’s internal resistance is reduced by 15% compared to similar products, significantly enhancing charge transfer efficiency and charging response speed. In terms of thermal management, the battery features an intelligent uniform-temperature liquid cooling system that maintains a pack-wide temperature difference of less than 3°C during fast charging. It also implements a multi-scenario, tiered thermal control strategy that adaptively adjusts cooling modes based on driving or parking conditions to keep the battery within its optimal operating range and minimize thermal management energy consumption. Additionally, the battery incorporates a safety-boundary-based adaptive fast-charging strategy that continuously monitors and limits the cell temperature rise rate, dynamically adjusting charging power output in real time. It also performs closed-loop verification of cell voltage and state of charge to prevent overcharging, overvoltage, and other anomalies, establishing a multi-layered safety protection mechanism to ensure safe high-power fast charging.
