On July 27, a user posted a video showing a Li Auto i6 repeatedly failing to complete an automated parking maneuver in an underground parking lot. The vehicle kept readjusting its direction but couldn't successfully park, blocking traffic behind it and drawing public attention. In response, Li Xinyang, head of Li Auto’s product line, addressed the incident on July 29, stating that after communicating with the driver involved, they confirmed an electric bicycle had been occupying space behind the vehicle during the parking attempt, obstructing the automated process. Li added that Li Auto is working closely with its autonomous driving team and plans to enhance parking capabilities in complex scenarios through an update scheduled for version 9.1 in September, along with continuous improvements to its driver-assistance features and better alerts when parking maneuvers are obstructed.
