MIIT Bans Installation of Non-Compliant "Blue Lights" on Passenger Vehicles

From:Internet Info Agency 2026-07-29 15:06:10

According to requirements from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the "blue indicator light" installed on intelligent driving vehicles is prohibited on passenger cars effective immediately, as it fails to comply with China's national standard GB 4785-2019, "Installation Requirements for External Lighting and Light-Signaling Devices on Motor Vehicles and Trailers." This standard explicitly limits the permissible colors for external vehicle lighting to white, yellow, red, and amber—excluding blue. Specific regulatory measures include: starting with the 410th batch of product announcements issued by MIIT, all testing institutions must inspect sample vehicles submitted by manufacturers; any vehicle found equipped with the "blue indicator light" will be rejected for product announcement application. The China Automotive Standardization Technical Committee will subsequently issue supplementary requirements regarding GB 4785. For vehicles already sold with the "blue indicator light," MIIT will develop a separate solution.
