BYD Deeply Involved in New L2 ADAS National Standard, Earns Certification with "Eyes of God" System Exceeding Requirements

BYD Auto played a key role in drafting the mandatory national standard "Safety Requirements for Combined Driving Assistance Systems in Intelligent Connected Vehicles" (GB 47955–2026) and has become one of the first companies to obtain certification under this standard. On July 28, the company received the "Automotive Production Organization – Certification of Safety Management System for Combined Driving Assistance." BYD stated that all models equipped with its "God’s Eye" advanced driver assistance system exceed the requirements set forth in the new national standard for combined driving assistance systems. The standard was officially released by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on July 2 and is scheduled to take effect on January 1, 2027. It marks China’s first mandatory national standard specifically targeting Level 2 (L2) driving assistance systems. Compared with the international regulation UN R171, this standard introduces more detailed technical requirements regarding system design operating domains, functional specifications, driver state monitoring, and user notifications. It also adds test scenarios tailored to China’s complex traffic environments, along with corresponding testing procedures, pass/fail criteria, and clearly defined inspection and testing methodologies.
