French prosecutors have confirmed that Renault will face a criminal trial on charges of aggravated fraud for allegedly installing defeat devices in diesel vehicles to circumvent environmental regulations limiting vehicle emissions. Renault is the second automaker, after Volkswagen, to be referred to France’s criminal court in connection with the "Dieselgate" scandal. If convicted, the company could face substantial fines and other legal consequences.
