Amazon's autonomous driving unit Zoox has received a temporary exemption from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), allowing it to commercially deploy up to 5,000 self-driving taxis in the United States without traditional manual controls. This exemption provides Zoox with a regulatory pathway to advance its driverless ride-hailing service.
