The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has issued the "15th Five-Year Plan for Green and Low-Carbon Development of Industry," which emphasizes key directions in green design, including longevity, non-toxicity, lightweighting, noise reduction, energy efficiency, water conservation, material savings, space efficiency, ease of recycling and regeneration, reusability, and zero-carbon attributes. The plan calls for establishing industry-specific green design requirements, developing solutions, and promoting green products. It explicitly outlines an orderly advancement of iterative upgrades in fuel-efficient technologies and low-carbon fuels for conventional fuel-powered vehicles, while accelerating the development of intelligent, connected new-energy vehicles toward all-climate and all-scenario applications. Additionally, the plan mandates the formulation of national standards restricting the use of hazardous substances in automobiles, improving regulatory mechanisms, and promoting green alternatives to automotive refrigerants. It also strengthens the management of hazardous substance restrictions in electrical and electronic products, gradually expanding the scope of regulated product categories and urging enterprises to comply with mandatory national standards. Furthermore, the plan calls for deepening the implementation of the energy efficiency labeling system, encouraging enterprises to produce green and smart home appliances, supporting high-quality brands' inclusion in China’s list of renowned consumer goods, and promoting the production of building materials that are healthy, safe, green, and of high quality.
