On July 30, Chery Jaguar Land Rover’s Changshu plant rolled off the first mass-produced model under the Shenvo brand—the Shenvo 8—which is scheduled to open for pre-orders on August 10. Shenvo is a new energy vehicle (NEV) brand launched by the Chery-Jaguar Land Rover joint venture, with product definition and brand operations led by a China-based team, while Jaguar Land Rover is responsible for product design and chassis tuning. The Shenvo 8 is positioned as a luxury, tech-focused, all-terrain SUV featuring a six-seat layout. On March 31 of this year, the Changshu plant produced its final unit of the Range Rover Evoque L gasoline-powered model. The joint venture has invested RMB 3 billion to upgrade the facility for NEV production, and the plant now has an annual production capacity of 200,000 vehicles, employing a total of 2,738 staff.
