BYD Hits 100,000 UK Sales in Three Years, Sells Nearly 38,000 in H1

Since officially entering the UK market in March 2023, BYD has achieved cumulative sales of 100,000 vehicles as of July 2026. In the first half of 2026 alone, BYD sold 37,995 cars in the UK—accounting for more than one-third of its total sales to date. Initially offering only the ATTO 3 model, BYD has now expanded its lineup to 10 models, and its dealer network has grown from just five locations at launch to 143 nationwide. According to data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), BYD sold 6,242 vehicles in June 2026—a year-on-year increase of 36.2%—capturing a market share of 2.93%. Gerd Glaeske, Managing Director of BYD UK, expressed gratitude to the 100,000 customers and their families for their trust. The company plans to introduce additional models to the UK market in the future, including the SHARK pickup, Seal 7 SUV, Denza Z, and Z9 GT. Meanwhile, other Chinese brands are also making headway in the UK. The JAECOO J7, under Chery, starts at £24,555 and recorded sales of 3,145 units in June 2026, ranking seventh among best-selling models that month. With year-to-date sales of 23,840 units in 2026, it currently ranks third in the UK SUV segment, trailing only the Ford Puma and Kia Sportage.
