EV Chargers Without CCC Certification Banned from Sale and Use Starting August 1

Starting August 1, electric vehicle supply equipment (EV charging stations) has been included under the scope of China Compulsory Certification (CCC certification). Charging stations without CCC certification are prohibited from being manufactured, sold, imported, or used in any commercial activities. This measure, implemented by the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR), through the Certification and Accreditation Administration of China (CNCA), aims to strengthen product quality risk control at the source and safeguard public health, safety, and property. The certification process includes testing against key safety requirements, as well as on-site assessments of manufacturers’ quality assurance capabilities and product consistency. Operators who deployed charging stations prior to August 1 must ensure these units comply with statutory requirements for protecting personal and property safety. Market regulators will continue strengthening oversight of CCC certification and rigorously investigate illegal activities such as selling uncertified products or misusing certification marks.
