Nissan is accelerating its product development pace, aiming to shorten its vehicle development cycle from 52 months to 37 months—and further reduce it in the future. To achieve this goal, the company will streamline the number of parts and platforms, planning to cut its platforms from 13 to 7 by the mid-2030s, reduce parts complexity by up to 70%, and decrease its total model count from 56 to 45. Its future lineup will be organized into four categories: Heartbeat, Core, Growth, and Partner. The all-new Skyline, the first model developed under this new approach, was completed in just 26 months and is scheduled for launch this winter. Additionally, Nissan plans to introduce an Xterra priced below $40,000 and will continue developing the next-generation GT-R and Z models, though neither will reach the market in the near term.
