Bugatti Teases New W16-Powered Product via Programme Solitaire

Bugatti released two teaser videos around August 5, hinting that its iconic W16 engine might continue in an ultra-limited bespoke form. The first four-second video, titled "The Sculpture of Speed," showed an engine cover plate engraved with the "W16" logo, accompanied by the caption: “Captured, shaped, preserved.” The following day, a second video unveiled a new, wide rectangular grille design—distinct from the narrow horseshoe-shaped grilles used on current Bugatti models and the latest Tourbillon. Its styling closely resembles that of the 2015 Atlantic concept car. The accompanying caption described it as “a tribute to stunning proportions and beauty” and once again credited Bugatti’s Programme Solitaire division, which previously created ultra-exclusive limited-edition models such as the FKP Hommage. Bugatti had previously announced that the Mistral, launched in 2022, would be the final production model powered by the W16 engine—a quad-turbocharged 8.0-liter unit capable of producing over 1,800 horsepower depending on its tuning. Moving forward, Bugatti will transition to a naturally aspirated V16 hybrid powertrain, combining a 1,000-horsepower internal combustion engine with an electric motor delivering approximately 800 additional horsepower. The new model is expected to make its official debut at the upcoming Monterey Car Week in the United States.
