On August 5, BYD Auto announced the official opening of its Shaoxing Dual Experience Center. Comprising the BYD Shaoxing Racetrack and the BYD Natural Off-Road Experience Center, this facility marks the company’s first integrated complex combining a racetrack with natural mountainous off-road terrain. The Shaoxing Racetrack features a 1.6-kilometer professional circuit and includes six distinct experience zones: a 29.6-meter “Sky-Hanging Sand Dune,” a 70-meter-long transparent water-float navigation pool, a 44-meter-diameter low-friction circular track (simulating an ice road), and a 6,000-square-meter multifunctional experience area offering comprehensive tests such as intelligent driving, slalom, and moose maneuvers. The Natural Off-Road Experience Center spans approximately 1.3 million square meters (about 2,000 acres) and is located 3 kilometers from the Shaoxing Racetrack. It preserves natural landscapes including native hillsides, bamboo forests, and ravines, and is equipped with all-terrain training facilities. The center offers multiple off-road trails: a 3.5-kilometer Explorer Trail, a 4.5-kilometer Beginner Trail, a 5.2-kilometer Intermediate Trail, a 9.5-kilometer Advanced Trail, a 9.1-kilometer Master Trail, and a creek-crossing trail awaiting unlocking. Previously, in September 2023, Li Yunfei, General Manager of BYD’s Brand and Public Relations Division, stated that the company planned an initial investment of RMB 5 billion to build professional all-terrain racetracks in multiple cities, including Hefei, Zhengzhou, and Shaoxing. Among these, the Zhengzhou All-Terrain Racetrack opened in 2023, featuring specialized terrains for straight-line acceleration, off-road climbing, water-floating navigation, and desert dune charging. It also houses the world’s tallest and largest sand-dune test track, certified by Guinness World Records.
