China's First 7-Speed AMT Automatic Cruiser, the 2027 Zontes AQS401, Launches at ¥21,988

The 2027 Zontes AQS401 launched on August 5 with an official suggested retail price of RMB 21,988. It features China’s first mass-produced 7-speed AMT automatic transmission, adding one extra gear compared to the previous generation’s 6-speed AMT. Powering the motorcycle is a 401cc liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder, eight-valve engine delivering a maximum output of 34 kW at 9,500 rpm and peak torque of 37 N·m at 8,000 rpm. Power is transmitted via a Gates belt drive system. Dimensions measure 2,175 mm (L) × 845 mm (W) × 1,145 mm (H), with a wheelbase of 1,480 mm, seat height of 720 mm, curb weight of 185 kg, and a 17-liter fuel tank. Under standard economic riding conditions, the manufacturer claims a range exceeding 400 kilometers. The AQS401 is available in three color options: Time White, Titanium Silver, and Obsidian Black. It features an extended dual-seat design with a narrowed saddle and an elongated rear fender. The transmission system incorporates a dedicated TCU (Transmission Control Unit) that works in tandem with a Bosch ECU, offering two shift modes: D-mode (fully automatic) and M-mode (manual paddle shift). Within each mode, riders can select between ECO (Economy) and SPORT (Sport) power delivery profiles. The bike also comes standard with an intelligent creep function. For intelligent safety, the motorcycle is equipped with a 77GHz millimeter-wave radar supporting SRW (Start-off Rear Warning), BSD (Blind Spot Detection), LCA (Lane Change Assist), and RCW (Rear Collision Warning). Additional safety features include a six-axis gyroscope for attitude sensing, dual-channel ABS, and TCS (Traction Control System). The integrated T-BOX smart terminal enables vehicle tracking, status monitoring, crash detection with automatic alerts, and active emergency assistance.
