On August 5, the General Manager of BYD Ocean Network Sales Division unveiled interior details and additional specifications for the Ocean Network's flagship SUV, the Sealion 08. The cabin adopts a "Ocean as Horizon" design philosophy, featuring mother-of-pearl trim strips with luminous accents on the dashboard and door panels, complemented by a wave-inspired ambient lighting system with wraparound diffuse illumination. Seat designs draw inspiration from deep-sea scallops, incorporating shell-textured backrests and offering ventilation, heating, massage, lateral sliding, and zero-gravity functions, with a six-seat configuration available. The vehicle made its global debut at the Beijing Auto Show in April this year, equipped with BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery, flash charging technology, the Cloud Ride-A intelligent air suspension system, rear-wheel steering, and the DiPilot 5.0 advanced driver-assistance system. According to filings submitted to China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the Sealion 08 measures 5,115 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width, and 1,800 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,030 mm. Powertrain options include both all-electric and plug-in hybrid variants. The all-electric version offers a single-motor configuration in two outputs—320 kW (low power) and 370 kW (high power)—as well as a dual-motor variant delivering 215 kW at the front and 370 kW at the rear. The plug-in hybrid model features a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine (maximum output: 115 kW) paired with dual motors—one on each axle—each producing 200 kW. Previously disclosed information indicates that the all-electric models will offer ranges of 800 km and 900 km (CLTC), with both five- and six-seat layouts available, and are scheduled to launch in August.
