In July 2026, total new vehicle sales in Australia reached 103,000 units. Of these, battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales hit 23,000 units, more than tripling year-on-year—a growth of over 200%. The BEV market penetration rate stood at 22%, marking the third consecutive month exceeding 20%. In January 2026, the country's BEV penetration rate was 8.4%. These figures were released by the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) on August 5.
