On August 6, in response to reports that the Chevrolet brand would cease sales in the Chinese market, General Motors (GM) stated that it has no plans to discontinue production. GM explained that Chevrolet models produced by its joint venture are best suited to meet export market demand, and therefore the joint venture will continue manufacturing Chevrolet vehicles in China while actively exploring opportunities in overseas markets beyond the United States. Additionally, GM emphasized that it will continue providing comprehensive after-sales service support for existing Chevrolet owners in China. Chevrolet is a brand owned by General Motors (GM), founded in 1911. In 1997, SAIC Motor Corporation Limited and General Motors jointly established SAIC-GM. In 2005, SAIC-GM officially launched the Chevrolet brand in China to expand into the mass market.
