212 Off-Roader X03 Files for Production: Diesel-Powered, Rugged SUV with Optional Tow Hitch

According to the public notice of new products in the 410th batch of the "Announcement on Road Motor Vehicle Manufacturers and Products" issued by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), Beijing Automobile Works Co., Ltd. has completed the application for its BAW 212 X03 model. The vehicle is an off-road passenger car powered by diesel fuel, with overall dimensions of 5,095 mm in length, 2,038 mm in width, and 1,945 mm in height. It features a wheelbase of 2,950 mm, a curb weight of 2,570 kg, a gross vehicle weight rating of 3,070 kg, and seating capacity for five passengers. In terms of powertrain, the vehicle is equipped with a DDi23-500B engine manufactured by Dongfeng Light Engine Co., Ltd., featuring a displacement of 2,298 ml and a maximum output of 140 kW (net power: 138 kW). The vehicle has a top speed of 170 km/h and complies with China’s National VI emission standards. The approach angle is 33 degrees and the departure angle is 30 degrees. Both front and rear track widths measure 1,704 mm, with a front overhang of 868 mm and a rear overhang of 1,277 mm. It is fitted with tires sized 265/70R18. The vehicle is capable of towing a trailer with a maximum authorized total mass of 2,500 kg and comes equipped with a towing device, including a square receiver hitch and an electrical connector, which does not affect the vehicle’s overall length or departure angle. Optional features include a sunroof, alternative wheel rim designs, and a configuration without front fog lamps.
