Xiaomi Auto Unveils Pengcheng N90 Max Smart Electric Door with Door-Opening Collision Warning and Obstacle Avoidance

On the evening of August 8, Xiaomi Auto released its "Answers to Netizens' Questions" (Episode 272), providing detailed explanations about the door design and face-to-face seating mode of the Xiaomi Pengcheng models. The company stated that all Pengcheng models feature rear doors capable of opening nearly 90 degrees, achieved through three key improvements: increasing the height of the door hinge's body-side plate from the standard ~60mm to 72mm; adopting forged hinges for enhanced strength; and inwardly contouring the B-pillar surface to accommodate the wide opening angle. The Xiaomi Pengcheng N90 Max offers optional intelligent electric doors on all four doors, supporting six opening methods and seven closing methods. Inside the vehicle, users can operate the doors via door handles, second-row overhead panel buttons, the central touchscreen, or XiaoAI voice assistant; the driver’s door can also be closed by pressing the brake pedal. Outside the vehicle, operation is possible via the external door handle button or exterior voice commands. These electric doors are equipped with "door-opening collision warning" and obstacle-avoidance functions, leveraging sensor fusion from nine cameras, four millimeter-wave radars integrated into the doors, and one forward-facing LiDAR. This system enables front and rear door-opening warnings and automatic obstacle avoidance—for example, automatically halting door movement when an e-bike approaches, or pausing until pedestrians pass before resuming opening. Additionally, both previously launched models—the Pengcheng N70 Max and N90 Max—support power-adjustable front seats that rotate to create a face-to-face seating configuration with the rear passengers. Taking the N90 Max as an example, the maximum legroom between two occupants seated face-to-face reaches 1,760 mm, ensuring comfortable knee clearance without contact.
