Starting with the first bus on August 10, Nanjing Public Transport has launched a pilot "Smart Reservation Stop" service on Routes 3, B10, and B31. Passengers can reserve a ride at the bus stop using an integrated kiosk by tapping their card or scanning a QR code, while onboard reservations for alighting are made via dedicated electronic screens inside the bus. This reservation system is only valid during the operating hours of the respective routes, is free of charge, and does not replace regular fare payment upon boarding. If no reservation is made within the designated time window, the bus will bypass the stop without stopping. The kiosks at stops feature large displays showing real-time information about the nearest approaching buses, with card-tap and QR-code scanning areas located beneath the screen. After tapping their card, passengers can confirm their reservation by pressing the "Confirm Reservation" button.
