BMW M3 40th Anniversary Edition Debuts at Chengdu Auto Show, Limited to 20 Units Worldwide

BMW has officially announced the launch of a limited-edition M3 40th Anniversary model to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the iconic M3. The special edition will debut at the Chengdu International Auto Show, which opens in late August. Offered in both Sedan and Touring body styles, this limited-run model will be available globally in just 20 units. The standard BMW M3 starts at RMB 863,900, while the M3 Touring starts at RMB 943,900. The anniversary edition features a black-framed kidney grille and darkened front headlights. The Sedan is finished in Laguna Seca Blue with black 19-/20-inch 826M alloy wheels and blue M high-performance brake calipers, while the Touring wears Wildberry Red paint paired with Copper Bronze 19-/20-inch 826M wheels and red brake calipers. Both models feature a “40 Years Edition” badge on the roof. Inside, the cabin comes standard with M carbon fiber bucket seats upholstered in Silverstone White and Black Merino leather. Limited-edition badging appears on the door sill plates, front seat headrests, and the central cup holder area. The Sedan features Polar Blue contrast stitching, whereas the Touring uses Amethyst Purple stitching. The steering wheel is wrapped in M-specific Alcantara with heating functionality. Under the hood, both variants are powered by the S58 3.0-liter inline-six twin-turbocharged engine, producing a maximum output of 530 horsepower (390 kW). Power is sent to all four wheels via the M xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system. The Sedan has a top speed of 290 km/h, while the Touring tops out at 280 km/h.
