XPeng AeroHT Achieves Milestone: 1,000+ Electric Propulsion Units for Flying Cars Produced

XPeng AeroHT’s mass-production facility for flying cars today achieved the milestone of rolling out the 1,000th electric propulsion unit (EPU) for its "Land Aircraft Carrier" eVTOL aircraft, setting a new global record for large-scale production of 800V EPUs in the eVTOL industry. Each EPU integrates an electric motor and propeller to convert electrical energy into lift and thrust. Before leaving the production line, every unit undergoes more than 30 inspection procedures, including communication tests and NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness) testing. The assembly line boasts an automation rate exceeding 60%, with 100% automated end-of-line (EOL) testing. Since 2024, over 200 prototype "Land Aircraft Carrier" units have been deployed for extensive testing, covering multi-scenario flight trials, powertrain systems, flight control and navigation systems, as well as extreme-environment validation under conditions such as extreme cold, high heat, high humidity, and salt fog. The cumulative operational time of the EPUs has surpassed 30,000 hours. The EPU features a highly integrated six-in-one design and an 800V high-voltage architecture, combining six subsystems: drive motor, propeller, blade-folding mechanism, cooling module, motor controller, and shaft-gear system. It employs a direct-drive configuration that eliminates the need for a gearbox. Each unit weighs 25 kg, delivering a torque-to-weight density of 20 N·m/kg, peak torque exceeding 400 N·m, peak power of 70 kW, and a thrust-to-weight ratio of 12. The "Land Aircraft Carrier" is equipped with six such EPUs, achieving an average efficiency of over 92% across typical flight profiles.
