On August 10, LX Semicon, a Korean system semiconductor design company, announced the mass production of its automotive MCU chip, the LX61101. The chip features a 40MHz Arm Cortex-M3 core and is primarily used in automotive window safety systems and aerodynamic control systems, enabling motor control by monitoring speed, position, direction, and torque. The LX61101 has received AEC-Q100 and ISO 26262 certifications and will be deployed in Hyundai and Kia vehicles produced starting in the second half of 2023, marking the first time Hyundai and Kia have adopted a domestically produced Korean automotive MCU.
