XPeng G9L Launches with 5C Ultra-Fast Charging Battery, Offering BEV and Range-Extended Options

XPeng Motors today announced the launch of its new model, the G9L, featuring an integrated active-passive safety 5C ultra-fast charging large-capacity battery. The vehicle incorporates full-stack in-house development across cell design, system integration, and cloud-based algorithms. For passive safety, the G9L employs a four-layer thermal protection system that fully encapsulates each battery cell, enabling the battery pack to withstand temperatures exceeding 1,000°C. On the active safety front, the vehicle is equipped with an EIS battery safety chip, which can provide early warnings of battery risks twice as early as conventional systems and enhances risk detection through cloud-based algorithms. The G9L’s body features a three-tier side-impact protection system, while its underbody is reinforced with a four-layer armored structure—demonstrating impact resistance 4.67 times higher than China’s national standards in real-world testing. The G9L will be available in both all-electric and range-extended variants: the BEV version offers a choice of 91.9 kWh or 110 kWh battery packs, while the range-extended model comes with a 63.3 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack.
