On the 11th, Indonesia's Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources announced it is accelerating the development of public electric vehicle charging stations (SPKLU) in line with the "2025–2030 Public EV Charging Station Development Plan." The plan specifies the layout and types of charging technologies to be deployed across locations including shopping malls, office buildings, industrial zones, highway service areas, gas stations, tourist attractions, hospitals, railway stations, bus terminals, hotels, and ports. The government has also streamlined the business licensing process for charging station operators and is encouraging private sector participation through diversified business models. According to data from Indonesia's state-owned electricity company PLN, public charging stations consumed 62.4 million kWh of electricity by June 2026, surpassing the full-year 2025 total of 48.5 million kWh.
