AI Demand Fuels Semiconductor Market Growth; Omdia Raises 2026 Revenue Forecast to 94.1% YoY Increase

On August 12, Omdia released a report stating that sustained AI demand exceeding global supply capacity has driven rapid growth in the DRAM and NAND markets. As a result, Omdia has revised upward its forecast for year-over-year revenue growth in the global semiconductor market in 2026 to 94.1%. The report also predicts that memory chips will account for more than 50% of total global semiconductor revenue by 2026. Currently, AI demand has outstripped the semiconductor industry's capabilities in chip manufacturing and packaging, creating bottlenecks in critical areas such as high-bandwidth memory (HBM), advanced packaging, and advanced process node capacity. These constraints are expected to persist at least through 2027.
