Mandatory CCC Certification for EV Charging Equipment Effective August 1

From:Internet Info Agency 2026-08-14 17:41:46

Starting August 1, 2023, the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR), through the Certification and Accreditation Administration of China (CNCA), has implemented mandatory China Compulsory Certification (CCC certification) for electric vehicle charging equipment. Equipment without CCC certification is prohibited from being manufactured, sold, imported, or used in any commercial activity. Previously installed equipment already in operation must be properly maintained and inspected. The CCC certification includes testing and inspection of critical safety requirements such as protection against electric shock, short-circuit protection, and fire resistance. According to previous spot-check data, nearly 50% of charging piles failed to meet standards. Under the new rules, consumers are advised to look for the CCC mark when purchasing and verify the authenticity of the certification. This measure raises the industry’s entry barriers, promotes market consolidation through competition, and accelerates compliance upgrades among leading enterprises. Market regulation authorities across multiple regions will carry out targeted inspections and public awareness campaigns on relevant regulations.
