On August 15, Sarah Friar, Chief Financial Officer of OpenAI, stated that the company's enterprise business revenue has surpassed its consumer business, which is primarily driven by ChatGPT. Previously, OpenAI had projected that its enterprise and consumer businesses would reach parity by the end of 2026; however, the share of enterprise revenue has already risen significantly, with the majority of income now coming from enterprise customers. The company originally anticipated a revenue split of 60% from consumer business and 40% from enterprise business by early 2026, but enterprise growth has far exceeded expectations. In July 2024, OpenAI’s consumer revenue grew by 20% month-over-month, while enterprise customer revenue increased by 32% month-over-month. According to media reports, OpenAI’s annualized revenue has now exceeded $40 billion.
