Survey: Over 70% of U.S. Youth Distrust Tech Giants, Wary of AI

A survey of 1,088 Americans aged 18 to 34 found that 45% of respondents believe artificial intelligence (AI) will negatively impact their career prospects, while only 10% think AI will be helpful. The survey also revealed that not a single prominent figure in the AI industry received a positive trust rating: Palantir CEO Alex Karp faced an 81% distrust rate, and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella registered 65%. Regarding regulation, 40% of respondents support federal government oversight of AI rules, 36% favor an independent expert body taking charge, and only 8% believe AI should remain unregulated. On data center construction, 60% of respondents advocate slowing down the pace of development, while 15% support accelerating it.
